CIAT solution optimises space and sustainability

In partnership with Installatiebedrijf Midden Nederland, CIAT proposed a unique, complete solution that satisfied all of the customer’s requirements. The project involved replacing a European rooftop unit (RTU) and a smaller American RTU on a rooftop measuring approximately 50 by 35 metres. However, as the original RTUs had been installed 15 years ago, additional work was required to comply with the more recent rules set out in the ERP (Energy Related Products) Directive. This presented three main challenges: compliance with the ERP (Energy Related Products) Directive, compatibility with the existing American frame, and the need to keep space clear for the installation of solar panels in the future.

As one of the RTUs due for replacement was a smaller American model, the customer wanted the new installation to fit on the existing frame. By installing a Floway DX air handling unit, CIAT was able to meet this requirement and reuse the existing frame, which meant that there was sufficient space left over for the future solar panel installation. In the previous installation, the RTUs were only capable of cooling during the summer months; air was being lost and the units provided no added value during the winter. However, the new Floway DX and Vectios RTU installation can cool, heat and ventilate, which is a significant improvement on the previous system.
